November 2018 To Do List.

November 2018 To Do List.

As busy as October was, I think November has the potential to be even busier, at least where Dubai is concerned.  So, without any additional procrastinating, here’s my to do list for the next month (and spoiler alert, it’s mostly unrelated to food):

  • Be consistent with events and reviews.  I’ve really taken a backseat with getting out locally, and there’s a lot going on!  I’ve got a few things in my calendar already, but I need to make more of a commitment to getting out on a regular basis.
  • Publish a book!  Unrelated to food writing, but I’ve not balanced my author stuff as much as I could have in October (and I have the crap book sales to prove it).  Now that I’m almost finished editing Under the Rain of Light, it’s time for The Queen of England: Ascension to get out in the world (even if Mercury is in retrograde).
  • More Keto, less carbs.  I was on a great routine with cutting out nearly all carbs early in October, and then…  Anyway, it all comes down to shopping correctly.  Now that I’ve got my schedule back and am caught up (mostly) on reviews, I have no excuses standing in my way.  While I’m really not feeling exercise at the moment (like, at ALL), I can at least step up my intermittent fasting and commitment to keto.
  • Abu Dhabi or bust.  There are a few invites and interesting things happening in the capital — more than time for me to get back.
  • Zighy Bay, Oman.  Finally!  I’ve wanted to visit this property since…forever.  This morning, I just received an invite to check out the new menu (and stay a night).  Cannot wait.
  • Follow up.  I’ve been a bit slack with some new friends and interesting people — I’m overdue to get some meetings on the books.  Time to follow up and follow through!
  • Finish pending reviews.  At the moment, I only have…three, but with more on the calendar, I need to get ahead and not behind.
  • Try not to feel guilty about Thanksgiving.  Hubs and I have hosted a big dinner every year for at least the past six years.  This year, well, I’m just not feeling it.  I think a lot of 2018 has been about finding the right balance — letting some things go, and concentrating on what doesn’t stress me out.  As I’m not in a very American place at the moment, it doesn’t feel like there is anything to really celebrate.  Hopefully, the November midterm elections will prove me wrong.

What’s on your agenda this month?  Anything exciting?
