There are many dishes from the Middle East to discover… But today we’ll talk about our favourites, the dishes we think everyone loves to eat!

Hummus

Hummus is something that goes with all the types of crudites. It is a blend of chickpea, tahini, and garlic, basically a dip that can be eaten with fresh pita bread or to complement other dishes. Hummus is a very easy to make dip provided the ingredients are used in a correct proportion and blended in an appropriate manner. It can be found in almost all the restaurants or you can even make it at home.

Shawarma

Our personal favourite is shawarma. This dish is made of grilled chicken stuffed in white tortilla along with some mayo and other dips and salad. The taste of the shredded chicken accompanied with the dips and veggies enhances the taste.

Manakeesh

Manakeesh/Manaqish is the pizza of the Arabian world, and a very popular Levantine food. Manakeesh is basically a baked dough with ground meat, cheese, and herbs and tastes just like the pizza only with a different bunch of ingredients!

Kibbeh

Kibbeh (or kuba) is made of meat, minced onion, and bulgar. It is a specialty that can be consumed both baked and fried. The meat used in this dish can be lamb, beef, camel, or goat but it has to be leanly minced and finely ground.

Baba Ghanoush

This mystical name is of a delicious appetizer cooked with mashed eggplant, tahini, flavour of lime and other middle eastern seasonings. It is usually accompanied with a meat or vegetable salad to enhance the experience.

Falafel

Falafel is one of the most recognized and loved dishes of the Middle East. It is made of chickpea and fava beans, and often served in a piece of pita bread along with green salad and dips.

Shish Taouk

Also spelled as Tawouk Shish or just Tawouk, this dish is a type of kebab made of marinated chicken or lamb and barbecued over the flame for some time. It is best served with either hummus or tahini or can be eaten in a pita.
