My Top Dishes of January 2017.

Wow, January has been an extremely busy month (no complaints here)!  If things keep going like this, I think 2017 is going to be amazing (minus that whole orange despot being in charge of my home country thing…).
Without further adieu, here were my favorite dishes in January:

  1. Wagyu filet, Graze.  Guys, I’m pretty sure I’m not going to have the chance to eat a Grade 8 steak for the rest of the year and I don’t even care.  Honestly, the entire meal was such a fantastic way to start the year and I hope you’ve made plans to visit this amazing restaurant.
  2. 99% Lump Crab Cake, Butcher and Still.  While the steak was nearly as good as the one at Graze, it was the starter that stole the day.
  3. Salmon with soy, sesame, and ginger, by Chef Henrik Yde-Andersen, visiting at Emirates Palace.  As mentioned when I first reviewed, I’ve never had salmon presented this way and probably will never again.  Creative doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Honorable mentions: Barley risotto at Ruya, Frozen red curry with litchi & lobster (also by Chef Henrik), and the entire team at Lucky Voice for being awesome.
With Bangkok on the horizon for February and South Africa in March, I’m already looking ahead to some of the fabulous meals I’m going to have this year.
Where was your favorite meal this month?
