The 4 Best Things To Do On A First Visit To Brisbane.

The 4 Best Things To Do On A First Visit To Brisbane.

Today we welcome a collaborative post from a talented contributor.  Enjoy, C.

Brisbane is one of the fastest growing cities in Australia, and it’s attracting more and more visitors each year.  The Gold Coast tends to be the go-to destination for travellers, especially if it’s their first time in Australia, but that could all change in the future as Brisbane becomes more popular.  One of the reasons that the capital of Queensland is so amazing is that it has the perfect balance of urban areas and beautiful natural landscapes.  If you’ve already done the Gold Coast and you want a different Australian experience, these are some of the best things to do in Brisbane.

Hire A Bike

Brisbane is a lot different to other capital cities around the world because it isn’t as cramped and built up.  The city also has a strong focus on alternative means of getting around which makes it ideal for cycling.  There are plenty of cycle routes all over the place so you can get around easily and safely.  It’s the best way to see some of the more scenic areas of the city and the rental prices are very reasonable.

Take A Boat Trip

The water taxis are another great way to get around Brisbane if you’re in a hurry and the roads are busy, but they’re not exactly luxury.  If you want to take a more scenic trip along the water, there are some great sites like eventcruises.com.au/ where you can book a river cruise or even rent out your own yacht.  Seeing the city from the water is a very unique and relaxing experience that you shouldn’t miss while you’re out there.

Go Whale Watching

If you’re a wildlife enthusiast, Australia is the best place to be because it’s home to some of the most amazing animals on the planet.  While you’re in Brisbane, you should take the opportunity to see some Whales.  Between June and November, you’ll be able to head out to the ocean off the coast of Brisbane and see the Whales swimming around.  You’ll only need to travel a short distance from the shore before you get to see a whale, so you’re likely to spot one in the first half an hour or so.

Visit Adventure Moreton Island

Taking a boat trip or going whale watching are both relaxing ways to enjoy the water in Brisbane but if you’re looking for something a little bit more exciting, you should take a trip to Adventure Moreton Island.  You’ll take a trip to the island by boat which gives you the chance to spot some of the marine life in the area; then you can choose from all sorts of different activities to do while you’re there.  There are some great snorkeling tours available which are very popular, but if that doesn’t take your fancy, you can go kayaking, quad biking or fishing.  It’s a change of pace from the relaxing river cruises and cycling that you’ll find elsewhere in Brisbane.

These are some of the best things to do on your first visit to Brisbane, but this is only scratching the surface of what this great city has to offer.

What’s your favorite thing to do in Brisbane?
