It’s technically still the weekend, right? I was devastated yesterday to hear of the loss of Anthony Bourdain. Although I never met him, his colloquial style and ability to literally get along with anyone was something I always envied. He was at home at a hawker stall just as much as he was in the best restaurants in the world. In fact, he indirectly set me on the adventure that would become this blog. When watching the Copenhagen episode, I was inpsired to make a reservation at Noma, which triggered a love of fine dining. The world is a slightly darker place without him and his voice. If you, or anyone you know is suffering, please you can contact the US National Suicide Prevention Lifeline on 1-800-273-8255 or the Crisis Test Line by texting HOME to 741741.
- I would play an edible board game.
- Some entertaining tips.
- From Mr. Bourdain, a classic, Don’t Eat Before Reading This.
- I’m registering with Vamp (and I’ll probably write a longer post about it soon).
- When you have a great idea for an article and want to pitch it to a place you’ve been wanting to be published with, only to realize they posted about it LITERALLY YESTERDAY. #writerproblems
- My first for The Forward Feed.
Meanwhile, I’m over here — still sick! — for day #6. I’ve been to the doctor, I’ve taken the medicine, but I just cannot seem to shake my current cold. Spoiler alert, I do not have the patience to be sick for this long. There are too many things I need to do, but yesterday I still managed to get to Jebel Jais to tackle the world’s longest zipline — hoping to post about it soon.
Looking ahead to the week, going out on Monday and Tuesday night — reviews forthcoming.
What are you up to this summer weekend?
