You probably thought DIFC had everything it needed, didn’t you? So did I. Thus, imagine my surprise when a new venue came along and is basically like, “Actually…how about we try this?” Take a former art gallery and transform it into a unique multi-level restaurant, complete with outdoor space, and you’ve got my new favorite venue in DIFC.  Equal parts casual and effortlessly cool, the menu is a bit eclectic (it works for me, but I can see how others might prefer a more traditional approach) and the engagement of the staff is well above average.  This is BB.  As they mention on their website, “Begin anywhere,” which is precisely what we did. How can two restaurants (with the same name and menu) have such completely different vibes?  I suppose visiting one at lunch, and one at dinner might have something to do with that…  Perhaps I’ll need to revisit both properties at another time to be sure. 😉  For dinner at the Roberto’s DIFC property, I arrived early enough to try a glass off the weekday appertivo menu (well priced at AED30 for most of the drinks).  While my prosecco was a bit flat and too sweet for my tastebuds, as I waited for my friend (dragged into a last minute meeting with a director), the bar staff took pity on me and proceeded to provide me with snacks during my wait.  I received no less than a bowl of nuts, a selection of vegetables and my own beetroot arancini.  Result! I’m taking you around the world this week — and we haven’t even left Dubai!  Furthermore, I believe Royal China is my first Chinese cuisine entry to the blog (and I’m so excited it is). Located in DIFC (the Pavilion Area, not the Gate Village), the interior of the restaurant is decorated in bold reds, blacks and with large windows, offers a view of people walking by the busy financial district.  With overlarge ceiling heights, it’s not a dining room you will feel cramped in anytime soon.  Should you require the space, there is a large private dining area immediately behind the reception stand.  Additionally, when the weather is nice, there is an outdoor terrace and a self-proclaimed ‘secret garden.’ Shown to our table, after being seated and proactively offered water, the menu(s) were distributed.  Now, the menus, while yielding amazing food, were a bit…awkward.  We were presented with a total…

The Entertainer has been absolutely crushing it recently!  When April’s monthly offers came out and I saw a brunch with Intersect by Lexus, I was excited.  Although I put the call out to other friends, in the end, it was just Hubs and myself and we had a blast (seriously, some very good people watching on offer as well as running into a former colleague from 2008).  As a concept, the restaurant is one of three in the world (the other properties are in Toyko and New York, respectively).  As the website itself lists,  the location is “an artisanal eatery offering an authentic and evolving culinary journey with a focus on pure, handcrafted organic cuisine and beverages.” Reservations?  Made online (1 day before – oops!!).
