Given we were in Reykjavik for a week, Hubs and I treated ourselves to not one<\/a>, but two nice meals (to be fair there are a number of other great restaurants we didn’t even get to). \u00a0While both were wonderful and represented all that Iceland has to offer, if you were pushed for time (or money) I would still go for Dill – it feels more special. \u00a0There is some\u00a0je ne<\/em> sais quo <\/em>that the\u00a0Grillmarka\u00f0urin doesn’t seem to have.<\/p>\n

Reservations?<\/strong> \u00a0Made online<\/a>. \u00a0Given the busy nature of the restaurant, I would say these are necessary.<\/p>\n

Ambiance?<\/strong> \u00a0Chic viking hall. \u00a0Is that a thing?<\/del> \u00a0The upstairs receives all the natural light (when available) and down a grand staircase is the remainder of the dining area. \u00a0The tables are closer than I usually prefer – we were seated nearly on top of other diners, but the acoustics are enough that you are not overhearing what’s being said at your neighbors table. \u00a0Also, the sinks in the toilets have a cool feature – I’ll leave it for you to discover.<\/p>\n

Food? \u00a0<\/strong>Do you like protein? \u00a0I mean, REALLY like it? \u00a0Then I might have the restaurant for you! \u00a0We opted to the tasting menu, which includes the best of what the restaurant has to offer. \u00a0Come to the restaurant hungry, because there is going to be a lot of food.<\/p>\n

Service? \u00a0<\/strong>Compared to Dill, I think I preferred the service at Grillmarkaddin. \u00a0While I enjoyed the interaction with the chefs more at Dill, the wait staff at Grillmarkaddin was better. \u00a0Very professional and approachable – much like all the Icelanders we met!<\/p>\n

Cost? <\/strong>18.900 kr per person\u00a0with selected wines for the tasting menu.<\/p>\n
